  Dr. Jo Wolthusen

I have worked in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals programs, as well as running an intensive outpatient program for adolescent. I have also led alcohol and substance-abuse groups at a county facility, volunteered at an emergency care shelter for adolescent girls, as well as work with adolescents, adults and families in private practice.

I understand how important it is for the client to feel comfortable and safe with their therapist. That "goodness of fit" is an essential ingredient in making therapy a successful experience. That is why I strive to provide each client with a safe, therapeutic environment to work on the issues they are seeking assistance with. Acting in a consultant role, I view that relationship as a collaborative endeavor. I assist the client in setting goals and working toward achieving them. Through the process of the client achieving insight and increased self-awareness, the ultimate goal is self-empowerment and realizing one's potential.
